Accreditation Criteria for Competency-Based Mastery
The Institute for Consumer Products advocates for a mastery-based learning model which requires demonstrated, authentic mastery of essential skills.
Foundational Level
“Certificate in [Competency] Fundamentals” or “Foundational [Competency] Certificate”
Advanced Level
“Advanced Certificate in [Competency]” or “Professional [Competency] Certification”
Expert Level
“Executive Certificate in [Competency] Mastery” or “Expert [Competency] Certification”

Competency Certification Process
Institute for Consumer Products Participants
Institute for Consumer Products participants must successfully complete a minimum of 4 (four) courses in a competency category to apply for Certification in a competency. Applicants for certification at the Foundational Level must demonstrate a thorough understanding of all competencies within the corresponding category regardless of the number of actual courses taken within that competency by means of an on-line knowledge test.
Applicants for Certification at the Advanced Level
Applicants for certification at the Advanced level must be certified at the foundational level prior applying for Advanced certification. Advanced Certification requires the completion of 3 (three) advanced level courses in the corresponding category and passing an on-line knowledge test and practicum.
Applicants for Expert Level Certification
Applicants for Expert level Certification must successfully complete 2 (two) courses at the Expert Level, pass an on-line knowledge test and successful completion of a Cap-stone project.
Certification and Accreditation by the Institute
Certification and accreditation by the Institute for Consumer Products is pass or fail. If unsuccessful in the first attempt, a second attempt may be granted at the discretion of the facilitator at no additional charge.
Note: Successful completion of a course is demonstrated by the granting of a Certificate of Completion for that course at the discretion of the facilitator.
